Kinship

An app designed to help improve family connections and take the stress out of organising get-togethers.

Kinship was shortlisted for the RSA Student Design Awards 2023 and the Creative Conscience Awards 2023.

  • A distant family dynamic can have profound impacts on individuals, particularly on children, who often crave connection and a sense of belonging. To bridge this gap, I propose a family organiser app called "Kinship." This app is designed to enhance family relationships, foster stronger communication, and create lasting memories, regardless of physical distance.

At the heart of Kinship is an events page that suggests a variety of activities and events tailored for family engagement. Whether it's an online quiz night or a treasure hunt with grandparents, there's something for every family member to enjoy. These suggestions aim to keep everyone connected and engaged, no matter where they are.

To simplify planning, Kinship recommends the best dates and times for these activities based on everyone's availability. Additionally, the app features a shared calendar to keep track of family events, a group chat for easy communication, a photo gallery for sharing memories, and a time zone manager to coordinate across different regions.

Kinship also prioritises privacy, addressing common concerns about sharing family moments on social media. The app’s gallery feature provides a secure space where families can share photos of their children and other personal moments, accessible only to approved family members.
